Cl. 16. Every nurse or other attendant is prohibited from receiving any compensation, gift or fee from any patient except upon the approval of the Executive Committee.
Cl. 17. Each nurse will be held responsible for the condition and order of his or her ward and adjoining rooms.
Cl. 18. All lights in the nurses’ rooms must be extinguished by 10 p. m.
Cl. 19. The hours for the nurses’ meals shall be as follows: breakfast, 6:30 to 7:00 a. m.; dinner, 12:00 m. to 1:00 p. m.; supper, 5:00 to 6:00 p. m.
Cl. 20. Nurses will see that the rules referring to visitors are strictly complied with, and that patients are not supplied with articles of food or drink by their friends without permission of the physician in charge.
Cl. 21. Nurses must enforce the rules and regulations relating to patients in their wards, and they must report any violation to the Directress of Nurses.
Cl. 22. All wards must be in order by 9 o’clock a. m.
Cl. 23. Neglect of duty, or violation of any regulation, will be followed by the suspension or dismissal of the offending nurse.
Cl. 24. Nurses shall not leave the Hospital at any time without the permission of the Directress of Nurses or Superintendent. Cl. 25. Nurses may have two weeks’ vacation in each year, after a service of twelve months, upon recommendation of the Directress of Nurses and approval of the Training School Committee. Cl. 26. Nurses are not to visit the offices of physicians or surgeons, for treatment or other reasons, except by special permission of and accompanied by the Directress of Nurses or her representative. Any medical or surgical treatment necessary, when practicable, must be taken in the Hospital, under the advice of the Directress of Nurses, but a nurse may select her own physician or surgeon.
