Cl. 20. All matters of irregularity or disregard of orders by, or complaint against, a member of the House Staff, shall be reported in writing to the Chief of Staff or President of the Board of Governors, who shall refer the matter to the Medical Committee, who shall immediately investigate the charges and report thereupon to the Executive Committee, with such recommendations as they may deem proper for the welfare of the Hospital.
Cl. 21. No member of the House Staff shall enter the room of a female private patient or female nurse except on professional business and accompanied by a nurse.
ARTICLE XXI.—Directress of Nurses.
Clause 1. The Directress of Nurses shall be the head of the nursing and housekeeping departments. She shall have complete charge of all the nurses, and have the power to suspend any nurse for insubordination, incapacity or other warrantable cause, but shall report such action at once to the Committee on Training School.
Cl. 2. She shall have the authority to suspend any employe [sic] in the housekeeping department, and shall report such action at once to the Superintendent.
Cl. 3. She shall make a monthly report to the Superintendent of the nurses under her charge, giving the number of hours on duty, the amount of extra service, and as to the proficiency, morality and general behavior of each nurse.
Cl. 4. She may arrange for one-half day off duty in each week for each nurse.
Cl. 5. She shall see that no ward is left without a nurse.
Cl. 6. She shall not permit nurses off duty to visit the wards.
Cl. 7. She shall have the authority to call on any nurse off duty for emergency work.
Cl. 8. She shall allow no nurse attending contagious diseases to wear unwashable clothes, or to visit other wards or the operating room for any purpose.
