Cl. 12. The Interne shall keep, in a book provided for that purpose, a record of all patients admitted and discharged from the Hospital. This record shall state the patient’s name, age, sex, occupation, civil condition, nativity, date of admission, disease or injury, its progress, treatment and termination, and the date of discharge.
Cl. 13. The Interne shall, on November 30th in each year, make a written annual report, giving a classified list of the diseases treated and the operations performed during the preceding twelve months, with the result thereof, which annual report must be approved by the Committee on Medical Matters and then submitted to the Board of Governors at its annual meeting in December.
Cl. 14. No capital operations shall be performed by members of the House Staff, except by direct permission, and in the presence of the member of the Visiting Staff on duty. Emergency minor operations may be performed by members of the Staff of Internes after permission has been obtained from member of Visiting Staff on duty.
Cl. 15. The Interne shall not discharge patients, but shall report and recommend for discharge, as “cured,” “improved,” or “not improved,” respectively, first to the Visiting Physician or Surgeon on duty, whose approval shall be necessary for such discharge, and then to the Superintendent of the Hospital.
Cl. 16. No member of the House Staff shall engage in any other business or practice out of the house during his term of service.
Cl. 17. No member of the House Staff is allowed to receive any fee or emolument from any patient or his friends for services rendered in the Hospital, except by consent of the Executive Committee.
Cl. 18. The Interne shall make the death test in every case when a patient is reported to have died, and shall certify to such death in the book to be kept for that purpose in the office of the Superintendent, before the body is removed to the dead house. No other person shall be permitted to make the death test and certification thereto.
Cl. 19. Post-mortem examinations shall be made only with the consent of the nearest known relative of the deceased, or with the permission of the Executive Committee.
