submitted in such report. This examination shall be made not later than June 1st of each year, and the candidate elected shall assume the duties of the position immediately. The Committee on Examination shall have notices of such examination posted on the bulletins of one or more reputable medical colleges at least four weeks prior to date of examination.
Cl. 8. The Chief of Staff shall advise the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors monthly in all matters pertaining to the health and physical well-being of the patients and the sanitary condition of the Hospital.
Cl. 9. In case of a vacancy in the Consulting and Visiting Staff, notice shall be given by the Chief of Staff to the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors, which Committee shall at once proceed to fill the vacancy.
Cl. 10. The Committee on Medical Matters shall have charge of all medical matters of the Hospital, but shall be subject to the direction of the Chief of Staff, and both shall be subject to the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors.
ARTICLE XIX.—Attending Physicians and Surgeons.
Clause 1. No physician other than those on the Consulting and Visiting Staff shall attend patients in the wards of the Hospital. Patients upon being admitted to the private rooms of the Hospital, shall have the right to call in the physician or surgeon of their choice, provided the name of such physician or surgeon be upon a list of Medical Practitioners of Knoxville, eligible to such service, which list shall be provided and revised when necessary by the Committee on Medical Matters and by them reported to the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors. They shall pay the same amount per week for board, room and nursing, as patients under treatment of members of the Consulting and Visiting Staff, occupying similar rooms. Private patients shall be furnished surgical dressings, anaesthetics and medicines without extra charge, provided the expenditures for same are not in excess of the limit provided for by the Consulting and Visiting Staff, except that a fee of two dollars in each case to members of the Consulting and Visiting Staff and of five dollars to surgeons not members of said staff, will be charged for use of operating room when used for pay patients, this fee to be always paid in advance, and before patient is admitted to the operating room.
