CHARTER.

The Knoxville City Hospital is organized and operated under the provisions of Chapter 137 of the Acts of the State of Tennessee for the year 1899, as follows:

An Act to authorize the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Knoxville, Tennessee, to issue coupon bonds to the amount of thirty thousand ($30,000) dollars, to be applied to the erection of a City Hospital, and, if necessary, to purchase a site for the same; and to provide for the operation and management of such Hospital.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, That the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Knoxville, Tennessee, a municipal corporation, be, and hereby is, authorized and empowered to issue, in its corporate capacity, coupon bonds to be signed by the Mayor and countersigned by the Recorder, in the manner and under the restrictions hereinafter provided, to the amount of thirty thousand ($30,000) dollars, to be appropriated to the erection of a city hospital, either inside or outside of the city limits, and to the purchase of the ground, if necessary, upon which to erect such Hospital; Provided, That the bonds or their proceeds shall be used exclusively for the purposes above set out, and in such manner as may be determined upon by said Mayor and Aldermen.

Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That the bonds issued under this Act shall be of such denominations, and bear such rate of interest, not to exceed five (5) per cent, as may be determined upon by said Mayor and Aldermen, and said bonds shall be due and payable at the end of thirty (30) years from the date of issuance.
