TMC Students Reportedly Making Patent Medicine in 1892
Making Medicine. Students Who Are Keeping Quiet Over the Undertaking
It is not definitely known just who the parties interested are, but a company composed of some of the students of the Tennessee Medical college and certain local musicians has recently been organized for the purpose of doing away with certain diseases flesh is heir to, forever and without fail.
Already they have manufactured a large quantity of medicine which they claim is patented — the laboratory or work shop being located on the topmost floor of the “Famous” store building on corner of Mabry and Crozier. The boys are said to be ready to start out Monday, and will be equipped with a first-class string band and prepared to give street entertainments while the merry shekels roll in.
The boys were at work in the laboratory at a late hour last night preparing their medicines for travel.
