Carrie Hicks Suddath was born 14 Jun 1882 in Tennessee, according to her tombstone at Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, Roane County, TN. She died 4 Feb 1977 in Rockwood. On 18 Aug 1920, at the age of 38, Carrie married Henley Preston Ramsey in Roane County.
Carrie was the daughter of John L. Suddath, according to the U. S. Census of 1900. She was enumerated in the household of her father, John Louis Suddath, in Civil District 16. Carrie’s mother was Mary Browder, according to John Suddath’s death certificate (died 1939 in Roane County, certificate #1458, on which Carrie was listed as the informant).
Carrie is listed on page 1273 in the 1907 Nashville (TN) City Directory and page 1156 in the 1909 Nashville City Directory as a nurse at the City Hospital, boarding at 72 Fillmore.
Carrie Suddath Ramsey had two children, twin daughters named Margaret and Mary Josephine. The following information is from Margaret’s obituary:
Mrs. Margaret Ramsey Minnie Pearl Peters, 89, of Walterboro, died Monday morning, March 7, 2011, at her home in Walterboro under the care of Hospice of America, her nurse, Tombie Dunmore and aid, Sharon Osgood. A native of Harriman, Tennessee, she was born October 31, 1921, the daughter of the later Henley Preston and Carrie Suddath Ramsey. She is survived by an identical twin sister, Mary Josephine McKinney and her husband Eugene of Rockwood, Tennessee.
