River Boat Ride Benefits Hospital Fund in 1896
Jolly Ride on the Tennessee last Night. Benefit Hospital Fund
Last night occurred another pleasing event that added its quota to the hospital fund. This was a boat ride given in the name of the German and Cotillion Dancing clubs. A good sized crowd of society people were in attendance and enjoyed very greatly the cool breezes, the music, dancing, refreshments and other good things that were in evidence.
Thanks to the generosity of Capt. Love the steamer “City of Knoxville” was put at the service of the committee and carried the jolly party a magnificent ride down to Riverside park and return.
Although perhaps not equally so, still the financial side of the affair was almost the success of the social side.
The chaperones were Mrs. Bayless and Mrs. Jones.
The entire credit for the management of the excursion goes to Messrs. Harry Albers, Hazen House and James Rodgers.
Clark’s orchestra furnished the music for the occasion.
