Mary Helen Hensley Sharpe, Class of 1952
Mary Helen Sharpe, age 79 of Clear Creek, [Bell County, KY,] passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at the Saint Mary’s Regional Healthcare Facility [Knoxville, TN].
She was born Oct. 3, 1932, in Hagan, Va., and was the daughter of the late Gillis and Martha Hensley. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, special grandmother and caring friend. Mary was a faithful member and choir member of the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. She spent a vast amount of her life serving her community as the Director of Nursing at Pineville Community Hospital, where she is remembered for her professionalism and caring nature.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Sharpe; brothers, Byrd Hensley and Lester Hensley; and sister, Elsa Grabeel.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Michael and Teresa Sharpe; a daughter, Susan Sharpe Brock; grandchildren, Ashley Sharpe, John Sharpe, Caitlin Brock and Caleb Brock. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Drucilla Hensley; and brother, Bruce Hensley. Also grieving her loss is a host of relatives, friends and church family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Denny Hunter, the Rev. Shelby Money and the Rev. Mark Sutton presiding. Music will be provided by John Sharpe, Alan and Linda Barton and Nicole Mike.
Entombment will follow in the Green Hills Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Colby Straup, Chuck Sharpe, Scott Sharpe, Max Money, Eric Fuson, Tim Cornelius, Jerry Baker, Wayland Partin Jr., Lawrence Hensley Jr., and William Bowling. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Steve Morgan and John Earl Patterson.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Creech Funeral Home.
