Government Employees Insurance Co. has announced the five winners of its 1997 public service awards. The awards, worth $2,500 to each winner, are the top honor given to civil servants by a private organization.

GEICO brings out-of-town winners and family members to Washington for a VIP sightseeing tour. The awards will be given out at a March 16 reception at the Corcoran Gallery of Art.

The winners are: … retired nurse Glennie Y. Googe, of the Mountain Home VA Medical Center, Johnson City, Tenn.
