Gertrude “Trudy” Gard Cinque, Class of 1943
Gertrude Gabriel “Trudy” Gard Cinque, born October 10, 1920, in Palm Bay, Florida, died April 12, 2015, at Birchview Memory Care Center in Sedro-Woolley, Washington.
After graduation, Trudy served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Nurse Corps. She met James Anthony Cinque while he was her patient at Fort Buckner on Okinawa. After the war ended, the Cinques moved to James’ native New Jersey. They then moved to Florida for a time, before settling in the mountains of Western North Carolina. There, the couple built a beautiful log cabin with a studio where Trudy created the stained glass pieces for which she became regionally well-known.
Some examples of Trudy’s art are in an on-line album at Flickr. Click here to view them.
There will be a Celebration of Life service for Trudy in Minneapolis on Saturday, April 25, 2015. Please contact us if you would like more details.
