Dr. Lancaster’s Temporary Successor Chosen (1891)
Dr. J. C. Cawood To Fill out the Unexpired Term
At a meeting of the faculty of the Tennessee Medical college last night at Dr. Drake’s office, Dr. J. C. Cawood was unanimously selected to fill out the unexpired term of the late Dr. C. C. Lancaster, professor of theory and practice of medicine.
Prof. Cawood is well qualified for the office to which he has been called by his colleagues.
Dr. Cawood is professor of surgery in the college and it is only due to his peculiar fitness for the position that he is now called to perform the two offices. The college and the class are to be congratulated that so able an instructor has consented to perform the double function of teacher in two distinct branches.
Dr. Lancaster’s successor will be elected at a later date after the close of the session.
