Alice Clare DuBose Inklebarger Conlin, Class of 1949
Alice Clare Dubose Conlin age 88 passed away on December 26, 2015, at 1:00 PM at Kindred Transitional Care in Maryville.
She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on March 12, 1927. She is survived by her husband John Conlin, her son, Tom Inklebarger, three step-sons (Mark, Francis, and Joe Conlin) and four step-daughters (Annie Conlin, Mary Hudson, Joan Koehn, and Ruth McCloud). In addition she leaves three nieces (Lynn Barnes, Kathy Carlson, Heather Barnes) and a nephew, Stephen Barnes.
Alice attended the University of Chattanooga, graduated from the Nursing school of Knoxville General Hospital as a registered nurse, and received her Masters in Anesthesia from the University of Cincinnati. She practiced and taught anesthesia at the University of Tennessee Hospital. She practiced anesthesia at Oak Ridge Methodist Hospital, Park West Hospital, Saint Mary’s Hospital, and Knoxville Baptist Hospital. She retired from the Knoxville Anesthesia Group at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
She was a member of Ossoli, the Lake Hills Garden club, Smoky Mountain Hiking Club (where she met John Conlin). She was a past member of 50 years with the Daughters of the American Revolution serving as regent for the Admiral David Farragut Chapter. She also was a member of other genealogical societies such as the Daughters of the War of 1812, Magna Charta Dames, and the Daughters of the Confederacy.
She and her husband were active in the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. They never turned down a stray dog. In lieu of flowers please leave a donation to the ASPCA or the Humane Society. There are no plans for a funeral. Plans for a celebration of her life are incomplete.
