Mary Kemmer Thomason, 97, of Crossville, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Wharton Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill, TN. She was born April 11, 1918, in Crossville (Grassy Cove Community), daughter of the late Eugene Spencer Kemmer and Canzada (Campbell) Kemmer.

She worked as a registered nurse at Alcoa Aluminum Co., where she was a member of the 25-year club. Mary was also of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her nephew, William O’Dell (Betty Ann). Mary is also survived by host of other nieces and nephews.

Betty O’Dell recalls “Aunt Mary was so well-trained, we always said she could probably do surgery.”

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Thomason; brothers, Robert Kemmer, Eugene Kemmer and Charlie Kemmer; and sisters, Lena Jane Young, Cora Nettie McCulloch, Jean O’Dell, Sherdie Mitchell and Ola Mae Johnson.

Graveside services were held at Crossville City Cemetery on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Gary Robbins officiating. Interment in Crossville City Cemetery. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
