Mary Roselle Walker Innaurato, KGH Class of 1943
Mary Walker Innaurato, age 95, of Knoxville, formerly of Townsend, passed away 1:15 a.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Westmoreland Health and Rehab Center. Mary was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, and active in Vacation Bible School, Children’s Church, and a member of the Bank-Teller Committee. She graduated from Knoxville General Hospital Nursing School in 1943 and served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. Mary worked at several hospitals in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 1944 to 1969. She worked at St. Mary’s Medical Center the last 20 years of her nursing career. Mary was an avid round and square dancer in the KSDA, and volunteered at the John T. O’Connor Center serving on the board for 3 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Innaurato, Sr.; parents, Mack and Elizabeth Walker; brothers, John, Glenn, Richard, and Lonas Walker; sisters, Wilma Harbin, Sarah Cross, and Jean Ownby; sisters-in-law, Edith Walker (Glenn’s wife), and Clarice Walker (Richard’s wife); brother-in-law, Luther Harbin. Survivors: sister and brother-in-law, Martha (Betty) and Dennis Ledden; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Edith Walker; son, Albert Innaurato, Jr.; sister-in-law, Jane Walker; brother-in-law, Perry Ownby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Broadway Baptist Church, 815 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., Monday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Turley officiating. The family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m., Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Townsend for a graveside service and interment at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Innaurato’s guest book is available at www.stevensmortuaryinc.com
