KGH Nursing School Admission Requirements (1951)
Requirements for Admission
I. | Age: | 17 to 35 years |
II. | Education: | Graduate from an accredited high school with sixteen credits. A high school transcript must be filed with application. |
III. | Personality and Character: | Credentials attesting satisfactory evidence of suitable character and personality must be submitted with application. |
Procedure for Making Application
I. | Obtain necessary application forms from the Nursing School Office. Application should be made in person if possible, or by letter to the Director of Nurses. Classes are admitted in February and September of each year. |
II. | Complete all forms as directed. |
III. | A transcript of high school record. |
IV. | All necessary dental work completed before entrance. A dentist should fill in the dental form, furnished by the School of Nursing, giving the condition of teeth. |
V. | Fill application form in ink and attach a recent photograph. |
VI. | Mail Application to: Director of Nurses Knoxville General Hospital Knoxville, Tennessee |
Graduation and Registeration [sic]
Commencement exercises are held in May of each year in the auditorium of one of our large churches. Students who have successfully completed the course in nursing and have passed all examinations are awarded the school pin and diploma. After graduation they are eligible for State Board examination and registeration [sic] in the State of Tennessee.
Professional Advancement
The Lillian L. White memorial Fund is maintained by the Knoxville General Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association for graduates who wish to use it for post graduate study in her chosen field of specialization. The school encourages each student to maintain a scholastic record which will enable her to enter any University graduate school.
