Betty Rae Tabor Horton, Class of 1954
Betty Horton, 86, of Britt, MN died May 30, 2013 at Diamond Willow in Mountain Iron, MN. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Virginia, MN with visitation one hour prior. Pastor John Cowan will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia following the service. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia, MN.
Betty was born October 21, 1926 in Bluefield, WV, the daughter of Jesse and Martha (Cox) Tabor. She grew up and attended school in Bluefield, WV. After graduating, she attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, and nursing school in Knoxville, TN, where she met the love of her life, Stanley Horton and they were married on April 22, 1956. They made their home in Britt, MN, and together they raised 8 children. Betty worked as a Registered Nurse at Virginia Hospital in OB for many years.
Betty’s creativity included poetry, writing, painting, teaching at work and at church, and spending time with family and friends.
Betty’s love for the Lord was evident through her outgoing personality and her love for people. She was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandchildren; Katie and Brogan, and one sister; Doris.
