Lillian Aideen Cole Millaway Parker, Class of 1941
Lillian Aideen Parker, age 96, of St. Augustine, crossed over into her heavenly and eternal home on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 31, 2014, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring, surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Claiborne County, Tenn., and graduated from Knoxville General Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. Lillian worked as a registered nurse for nearly 50 years, employed from 1968 to 1990 at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine, where she served as the director of nursing. Upon her retirement, Lillian went on to volunteer as a “Pink Lady” with the Flagler Auxiliary, serving in numerous capacities throughout the hospital and giving 38,500 hours of her time by 2012. She was a longtime member of Anastasia Baptist Church, where she served as a Royal Ambassador volunteer and went on mission trips to Haiti two different times. Lillian was also a member of the Lioness Club and Garden Club. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she will be deeply missed by both her family and her church “family.”
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Osgatharp of St. Augustine; a son, J.J. Millaway, and his wife, Lynn, of Lexington, S.C.; brothers, Keith Cole, and his wife, Ruth, of Toledo, Ohio, and N.H. Cole, and his wife, Judy, of Juneau, Alaska; grandchildren, Pam Simmons and her husband, Bert, Jeremy Osgaqtharp and his wife, Debby, James Millaway II and his wife, Christy, and Rachael Millaway; and great-grandchildren, Karenna, Kellie, Melody, Aiden and Dakota.
A memorial service will be held at Anastasia Baptist Church, at a later date.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
