Mary Evelyn Kidd Stansberry, RN, age 85 of Knoxville, passed away following a long illness, Thursday, April 14, 2016. She was of the Christian faith.
Evelyn worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at both Knoxville General Hospital and the University of Tennessee Hospital.
She received an Undergraduate Degree in 1969 from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a B.S. in Education. Evelyn was the Administrator of Knoxville Convalescent Center when it first opened and later moved to Nashville, TN, and attended the Nashville School of Law at night while working in Nursing Administration during the day. She received her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1976, passed the Tennessee State Bar, and practiced law with Walter, Gilbertson and Clairborne for many years.
After retiring from practicing law, Evelyn returned to nursing and then retired to live on the lake in Friendsville, TN.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Ada Smith Kidd. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tony W. and Jenny Stansberry; granddaughter, Anne McCall Stansberry, all of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Dorothy Lee Kidd Fox of Jay, FL and Launa Francis Kidd of Oregon; favorite nephew, Steve Fox of Orlando, FL and niece, Darenda Batchelor of Jay, FL.
Family and friends will meet 2:00 PM Sunday at Edgewood Cemetery for a graveside service with Dr. Alan Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
